First Night….

Cocoa attended her first night of obedience classes tonight, considering her wild and crazy attitude it might be more appropriate to send her to reform school!  She is a quick learner, she is also very energetic, agile and FAST.  I think she will be a lot of fun in the performance areas when she is ready!  But for now, I have to work on taming the beast! LOL!

The Biggest Show on Dirt!

The Thanksgiving Cluster starts this week; these shows run over the course of 5 days and are held at the Eastern States Exposition Fairgrounds in West Springfield, MA.  This Cluster is one of the biggest shows in our part of the country, hosting 4 days of Agility competition, and 5 days of competition in Conformation, Obedience, and Rally-O.  There are many canine health screenings available, and the BEST doggie shopping you could ask for in one place!  I am really looking forward to these shows; we will be attending all 5 days, Thursday through Monday.  Britt is entered in Rally-O on Thursday, and Robbie is entered in agility Friday through Monday :-)

This is a picture of the logo that was on the T-shirts given to the Agility exhibitors last year, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Agility being offered at this cluster of shows- the agility trials known as “The Biggest Show on Dirt!”

We are attending a 3 day Advanced Obedience Training Seminar with Sylvia Bishop this weekend, at American K9 Country in New Hampshire.  Sylvia is one of the most highly respected dog trainers in the United Kingdom, and throughout the world!  She is the only trainer who has been invited to compete at the prestigious Crufts Dog Show for 30 consecutive years with 10 dogs and she has won this Championship twice!

Sylvia’s insight is amazing, and her seminars are always enlightening and entertaining.  It should be a really fun way to spend the Halloween weekend.

The pictures below were taken when we went to American K9 Country two weeks ago, they didn’t make it into that post.  So, I thought this would be a perfect time to share them………..

A New OTCH!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

On August 23, 2009 my “big blue handsome man”, otherwise known as Stormy, finished his OTCH!!!!!!!!!!  Stormy and I have been training in obedience and working toward his Obedience Trial Championship for a very long time.  We have had to make it through many roadblocks along the way, our biggest was a nearly crippling shoulder injury that had him out of commission for most of 2008.

In spite of it all, Stormy has had an incredible career; he has been high in the obedience rankings in every level.  I have been blessed and honored to be in the ring with such an amazing dog!!  I owe my heartfelt thanks to our dear friend and trainer Marianna Beard, without her guidance we would never have been able to see this through.

I still can’t believe we finally did it,  we completed the journey all the way from Novice A to OTCH!  I will be on cloud 9 for a long time to come!

My web site has recently had a complete makeover and this blog was added.  Now that Stormy will be “semi-retired”, I will use some of that free time (LOL) to learn how to use this area and keep it updated with the activities of my fur-kids.
