Three for three…..

Three new titles, in three months that is!  Robbie finished his MXJ in early January, and then his RN at the end of the month.  This weekend we went to the DCKC agility trial held at the Gloucester County Dream Park and he finished another title!

With all of the snow that we have had, it has been impossible to get outside to train.  So, we were a bit rusty and my timing was off (at times) but, he still managed to earn 2 legs in Open Fast to finish his title!  He also picked up another 16 MACH points bringing us to just over 300 points now!  But, who’s counting…..?????<ggg>

Robbie earns his second title in a month!

Today we attended the back to back Obedience and Rally Trials held by The Brookhaven KC held at the Doggie “U” K-9 Academy in Bay Shore, NY.   Robbie qualified in both Rally Trials earning both his 2nd and 3rd Rally Novice legs, this finished his first Rally title!  He is now officially Wyndrigde Mondavi RN MX MXJ NF!

Coat of a different color……

To this point Robbie has only ever trialed in agility. Though he has had some obedience training; he is by no means ready to show yet, not even in Novice Obedience. Well, this weekend, I was going to an Obedience and Rally Trial with a friend from my training class. I knew that I would be there for the day anyway, so I decided to enter Robbie in Rally Novice. This way, I would have something to do, and he could get a chance in the ring too!  Robbie held his own scoring a 98 out of 100, and earned his first leg in Rally Novice! He really did a good job for the training that he has had so far! So, my agility boy is now on the way to his first obedience (sort of) title.

All of your ducks in a row….

Is this what they mean when they say “have all of your ducks in a row”?….or is that shelties in a row?

2010 Jan 3

Britt, Robbie and Stormy, "sheltie-ducks in a row"

It’s funny how times have changed, when Robbie was a puppy, he was an “on looker” rather than one of the dogs claiming a spot on the couch, <ggg>

the day after the day after Christmasse

5 month old Robbie looking on, while the adults, Sarah and Stormy nap on the couch.

Now that he is all grown up, he has figured out that one of the best things to do on a cold winter day, is find a nice soft place to curl up and enjoy a long winters nap!

It’s official…..

Our first agility trial of 2010, this weekend we braved an impending snowstorm and went to the Bearded Collie Club of America’s agility trial at  AK9-C in New Hampshire. Because of the ominous forecast I decided to cut the weekend short and leave after Saturday’s runs.  Robbie had great runs in both Excellent Standard and Jumpers, he double Q’d and finished his MXJ with a placement!!  He is now officially Wyndridge Mondavi MX MXJ NF!!!  What a great way to start off the New Year!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…..

and snow it did, we had a bit over a foot of snow overnight.  After we spent several hours digging out, the dogs got a chance to play in the new fallen snow and they really enjoyed it!

The snow was chest deep for Stormy……..knee deep in snow....

Our final trial for 2009…..

We had a great time this weekend at the Oriole Dog Training Club’s Agility Trial, held at the Carol County Agricultural Center in Westminster, MD.  We went south, hoping for some warmer weather, instead we had 3 inches of snow!  Anyway, Robbie did a great job, had I not driven him off the road we would have come home with 3 double Q’s!  Instead, we came home with 3 more MXJ legs…..and…..an agility dog looking for a new handler who can steer him through an Excellent Standard course <ggg>!  So, we end the year with 9 MXJ legs, and will have to wait for 2010 to earn the title!

Robbie’s QQ#3!!!

This weekend Robbie and I went to the ABA Agility Trial at American K9 Country, in New Hampshire.  Robbie really had a great weekend!  On Saturday, he finished his Novice Fast title, and earned another MX leg!  Sunday, he moved up to Open Fast, and earned his first leg there by winning the class!  Then he went on to qualify in BOTH his Standard and Jumpers classes earning his 5th MXJ leg and his 3rd double Q!!!

The courses were very nice both days, they seemed to work equally well for both the big and small dogs.  Below are the maps from the Sunday courses.  Sunday’s theme seemed to be about pinwheels and both courses started with either the tunnel or chute too!  Unfortunately, my camera was not cooperating so there is no video of our runs :-(

Run it for the money!

Run it for the Money was the name of the agility workshop that Robbie and I attended today at Criterion agility.  We have been training at Criterion in Middlefield, CT since early this year.  Monique, who is one of the owners/trainers there, has really helped us to improve our communication on course and to cut down our yardage, therefore course time as well.

The Fall colors are about at peak in our area right now, and the drive to Ridgeland Farm where Criterion is based was spectacular.

Our Workshop was great; it was a series of many short courses to drill skills.  We left with a few things to work on; when the trials wind down next month we will have some homework for the winter months.

This video is the short “warm up” that we started with today…….then we all really went to work drilling skills

Shelties On Line Performance Week!

I was very pleased when I heard that the sheltie performance community was trying to organize a week on Shelties On Line devoted to celebrating the achievements of our dogs in performance.  The word was, in order to have a week dedicated just to performance there needed to be a guarantee of a certain number of ads.

I responded saying they could count on me for support in running ads.  So, I organized my thoughts and pictures and sent them to Karen Jordan.  A special “Thank you” to Karen for the beautiful ads she designed for our boys!  These will run on Shelties On Line during the week of October 24-30, 2009 in support the very first Shelties On Line Performance Week!
